The cost of the house per week varies as we chose a new venue each year. The cost to individuals will be that price divided by the number of people from week to week. We like to involve the participants in the selection of accommodation. Just quickly checking the available accommodation in Caunes for next year, I found a house in the centre of town with accommodation for up to 8 people. There are three bedrooms. Two with king-size beds and one with a sofa bed. The fourth is a daybed. Modern kitchen, large rooms, outdoor space, street parking (sometimes a problem in Caunes). The only issue is that there is only 1 bathroom plus a separate toilet room. If we had 5 people, the weekly cost per person would be $175. If people each wanted their own space we could accommodated four people for $218 per week.
Besides the sleeping arrangements themselves, there are several other cost that people in the house will share. For in-house meals, we usually run a kitty to which everyone contributes for breakfasts, lunch supplies (since we picnic regularly in interesting places), and dinner if we decided to eat at home. There is the cost of a car for our use. Once the car has been selected, depending on the number of people to transport, We calculate the daily cost for each individual's stay. Plus, of course, there is the cost of fuel. Sometimes we take it out of the kitty; sometimes, we do a whip-around; sometimes, we just take turns.
Included in your costs are:
- use of kitchen or joining in group meals
- full use of all common space in the house
- use of laundry
- a bilingual host/guide for day trips and sightseeing.
- collection at nearest transit point (airport or train station) if necessary and requested.
